These are the images of the first known photographers of the city. They are preserved in the Museum’s Image Archive and are photographic portraits taken in the last third of the 19th century.

These are so-called visiting card photographs: albumen photographs that were glued onto thick cardboard that, on the back, usually had an engraving with the photographer’s details printed on it.

There were two photographers: Adolfo de Porta and Junyent y Casanobas.

Adolfo de Porta had his studio at Carrer d’en Cueta, nº 86, 2nd. Shortly afterwards, the same photographs bear witness to the street’s name change; at that time the address was Carrer Lluch, alias Cueta, 86.

We do not know where Junyent y Casanobas’ studio was; none of his photographs show the address.
