It mainly contains publications and studies on Badalona by local authors. There are more than 10,000 volumes classified into the following subsections:

• Local collection: Works by local authors or related to Badalona
• General works on the history of Catalonia and monographs on Catalonia
• Prior to 1800 published works
• Reference books (dictionaries, encyclopedias)
• Local administrative laws
• Works on archival and museum studies, and library science

The library has two catalogues, the local collection catalogue and a catalogue for the rest of publications. The local collection catalogue includes books, pamphlets, research works, and a selection of press cuttings on history, geography, culture and biographies produced by the local press since the nineteenth century. It can be consulted by authors or subject matter in alphabetical order.
