Now 50 years ago, the death of General Franco opened a new era in our country, the result of the will of large sectors of the citizenry to recover rights and freedoms while providing themselves with political representation and democratic instruments of government. Thus, the journey towards a new society began, not without problems and tensions.

This period, located between 1976 and 1978, represented a time of great activity at all levels. People wanted their voices to be heard and this was materialized in the most diverse ways. Neighborhood movements, protest platforms, unions, political parties, cultural or sports associations, wanted to take part in the design of a society and, also, of democratic and modern cities.

Badalona, due to its socio-economic and demographic circumstances, is a good example to explain the dynamism of this transcendental moment in our recent history, in which the first steps were taken towards the recovery of democracy. An era that represented, after many years, a new future and a new hope.

This exhibition is linked to the “Memòria en xarxa” project, which is promoted by the Xarxa de Museus Locals de la Diputació de Barcelona and produces exhibitions scattered throughout the territory, around certain historical events that point to museums as depositories of a common cultural legacy.
