Even today, when we think of ancient Rome, we tend to focus our attention on those who have been considered the “great protagonists of History”, generally men – although also some women – linked to political power or privileged economic positions. On the other hand, Roman society was made up of people of very diverse conditions, including individuals (men and women of different ages) who were enslaved. Thanks to research in recent decades, this group has acquired greater visibility, to which we intend to contribute with this intervention. Specifically, we will be interested in enslaved women, girls and children. We will start with a brief reflection on the difficulty of finding these historical subjects, often silenced in documentation, to later analyze a series of representative examples. Through them, we will seek to reconstruct, as far as possible, aspects of the daily life and experiences of those who grew up in freedom and to whom the right of property applied.
