Donation of Esther Estruch’s paints
This past year, the Museum has received two donations that have allowed us to have a fairly good representation of the Badalona artist Esther Estruch Gafarelo (Badalona, 1930 – Teruel, 2011)
Esther, and also her husband Julià Garcia Flaquer (Girona, 1933 – Teruel, 2008), were founding members of the REM group, an entity born in 1957 with the aim of transforming the cultural panorama of Badalona.
Graduated from the Sant Jordi School of Fine Arts in Barcelona, she was a drawing teacher at the School of Applied Arts and Artistic Crafts in Teruel, a city where she settled around 1970 and where she resided until her death.
In total we have received six works from between 1958 and 1980, made in different techniques (oil on board, gouache on canvas, Chinese ink or glazed Valencian tile) which, added to the only work that the Museum kept in the city’s art collections, are a good representation of the work developed by this artist.
We would like to take this opportunity to reiterate the Museum’s gratitude to the donors.
