{"id":11153,"date":"2019-04-02T22:40:23","date_gmt":"2019-04-02T20:40:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.museudebadalona.cat\/?post_type=portfolio&#038;p=11153"},"modified":"2019-04-02T22:40:23","modified_gmt":"2019-04-02T20:40:23","slug":"the-municipal-elections-of-1979","status":"publish","type":"portfolio","link":"https:\/\/www.museudebadalona.cat\/en\/act\/the-municipal-elections-of-1979\/","title":{"rendered":"The municipal elections of 1979"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<style type=\"text\/css\" data-created_by=\"avia_inline_auto\" id=\"style-css-av-1v92ev-2f905b70c47c5355ce6a8e19797d44a0\">\n.flex_column.av-1v92ev-2f905b70c47c5355ce6a8e19797d44a0{\nborder-radius:0px 0px 0px 0px;\npadding:0px 0px 0px 0px;\n}\n<\/style>\n<div  class='flex_column av-1v92ev-2f905b70c47c5355ce6a8e19797d44a0 av_one_full  avia-builder-el-0  avia-builder-el-no-sibling  first flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding  '     ><p><section  class='av_textblock_section av-236sof-6950a0901aeb80497bb7bc3fe94e2a90 '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>On April 3th of 1979, the first municipal elections in democracy were held (the previous ones in a democratic system had taken place during the Second Republic on January 14th, 1934).<\/p>\n<p>59.4% of the electoral roll, which at that time was 145,369 people, participated. 11 political parties took part in the elections and the final result gave 12 councilors to the PSUC (29,989 votes), 10 to the PSC (26,623 votes), 3 to CiU (9.222 votes) and 2 to CC \/ UCD (7,391 votes).<\/p>\n<p>On April 19th, on the day when the councilors assume their new role and when the constitution of the City Council was envisaged, M\u00e0rius D\u00edaz Bielsa (councilor of the PSUC) was chosen as mayor of the city.
