Guided visit to the exhibition Perfumeria Parera. 100 years of Varon Dandy.
The exhibition traces the trajectory and evolution of Perfumeria Parera, which was the most prominent Badalona industry in the sector and one of the most important in the whole country. A section is also dedicated to the other factories in the range that existed in the city of Badalona before the Civil War.
Founded by Joan Parera in 1912, Perfumeria Parera’s star brand was Varon Dandy, created exactly 100 years ago. It identified, among other products, a cologne, a lotion and a fixative. A pioneer in its field, it was one of the first lines of perfumery, if not the first, aimed at men. It had enormous acceptance and was sold in many countries, especially in Latin America. Other successful products of the house before the Civil War were, above all, Tentación and Cocaína en Flor, but also Pin’s and Gong. In the second half of the 20th century, Agua Profunda, Vereda, Giovanna, Brando, Jacq’s or Andros, among others, became very popular.
The exhibition, apart from pieces and documents from the collections of the Museum of Badalona, brings together a set of bottles, cosmetic containers and other objects from various private collections.
