Montalegre.Six centuries of Carthusian silence
from 19 de October to 14 de January de 2018
Open from Tuesday to Saturday from 5 to 8 pm and Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm.
The Carthusian of Montalegre, located in Tiana, has always had a lot of relationship with Badalona. This fact, which adds to the great importance of the monastery, the site of hermetic life for more than 600 years, has motivated the Museum to dedicate an exhibition, a book and several conferences.
The project starts with the award-winning work in the Humanity Photo Awards of Photographer Oriol Casanovas, which was expanded in 2017 at the same time as a second photographer, Antonio Guillén, was added. His images will be the bone of the bone of the exhibition, which will also incorporate some old pieces and photographs. The publication, illustrated with photos of the mentioned authors, was given by Jaume Oliveras, a great connoisseur of Montalegre and the Carthusian charism. His careful prose brings us closer to the life of the monastery and its architecture, reveals some unpublished facts and explains how only certain historical events have been able to alter the life of the Carthusians, always presided over by the spirtituality, silence and austerity. The project was carried out with the collaboration of the priors of the Carthusian monastery of Montalegre, the Town Council of Tiana, and especially the architect Pere de Manuel.
